Overheard

Eek, it has been so long since I have updated this blog.  I don't have much time, just want to record some of Lucy's personality.

Lucy really likes to cuddle in bed with me and/or Chad when she wakes up.  One morning while cuddling...

L:  What's that smell?
Me:  I don't know.
L:  It's your breath.  Can you please cover your mouth?
Me: Laughing
L:  No, go brush your teeth.  Go.

Lucy hasn't been napping, she just lays quietly for awhile to make us think she took a nap and then she starts yelling.  One afternoon, I went in and rolled her over after many minutes of yelling.

Me:  Lucy, did you even take a nap?
L:  Of course I did!  (with a huge smile, indicating that she did not take a nap)

Another time I rolled her over and noticed something large and solid in her underwear.

Me:  Lucy, what are you doing?
L:  It took you forever!

Ha!  I just can't be mad at her when she is so funny.

My sisters, Angela and Melanie, really like to tease Lucy.  Once when Angela was teasing Lucy about stealing her ponies...

L:  Don't take my ponies, you witch!

When Lucy wakes up in the morning, our routine goes like this:

I knock on her door.
L:  Come in!!
Me:  How are you today?
L:  Good mornin'
Me:  Did your nurse come?
L:  Yes.
Me:  Who was it?
L:  she tells me which nurse came and then she always says, "She is sooooo nice"
Then she usually compliments my outfit or hair.

She is so easy to like.

Some of my favorite phrases lately:

I can't believe it!
It's glamorous!
It's alllllllll mine!

4th of July

We had a wonderful 4th of July.  The only thing we didn't do that was on the kids list was swimming (they have made me take them swimming every other day this week) so don't feel bad for them, besides they got to play in a kiddie pool at the BBQ we went to.  We went to the same spot we found last year and it was perfect, except it was a teeny bit chilly.  No crowds and no germs and beautiful fireworks.  My favorite moments:  Jocey wearing flannel Christmas PJ's and a hobo hat.  Lucy saying "I can't believe it, it's so beautiful" after every explosion in the sky and the kids sitting on top of the car together.

Overheard

Jocey and I were in the car and I was explaining mosquito bites while she was ferociously itching her mosquito bites...
J:  Mom, next time I get my blood drawn, can we ask them for some extra blood to put in a container?
Me:  (I needed a couple of seconds to get her logic) I don't think mosquito's would drink that instead, they like fresh blood.
J:  (completely defeated)

I really feel for her, I don't like mosquito bites either.

During a family walk...

D:  Mom and Dad, can I go to a school for gifted kids with special talents?
J:  You don't have any special talents.
D:  I am really smart.
J:  (rolls her eyes)

Chad got the MLB channel on the PS and he was watching the Giants game.  I was holding Lucy and she just kept whining (mostly because MLP wasn't on- that is My Little Pony for all of you amateurs).  She then said quietly...

L:  I hate this show.

Every time I put Lucy down for a nap or to bed she says, over and over and over.

L:  I. Am. Not. Sleepy!

And she has skipped almost every nap this week....someone help!

My dad recently was diagnosed with bells palsy (not too serious, and hopefully the symptoms will subside soon) and we were talking to my parents on skype.  My dad can't close his eye and he has a patch over it...

L: Poor Baby Grandpa

If you are familiar with the Bay Area, specifically the area we live, it is very pricey.  Just to give you a general idea, right now 2 bedroom apartments rent from around 2800-3200 a month and 3 bedrooms are around 3900.  Anyway, the kids are always asking when we are going to get a house so I broke it down for them (basically, we will not be buying a house here).  After I explained it in a way that they could understand (we were in the car going grocery shopping) and I explained that we are trying to save for a house someday they said...

Okay, after this shopping trip, we can't spend anymore money, we have to save it ALL.

Since then, Jocey has been clearing out her drawers to have a garage sale.  I feel bad that I shut down her idea...No one wants to buy her 5 mismatched socks and stained shirt.

Note to self:  Keep better record of these things, I forget most of them.
